The PrestaShop Festive Seasons addon adds themed animations to your online store without modifying your theme. Animations are overlaid using a canvas, ensuring compatibility with any PrestaShop template. It is a free module with no external libraries, using only the Canvas engine and WebAudio.
Each season has its own background animation, designed to enhance your store's atmosphere on specific dates. The following occasions are included:
In addition to the background animation, the module includes a themed cursor trail and timed surprise events: mascots that appear at a random position to pop, cross the screen, float upward or launch fireworks. The frequency of these surprises is configurable.
The module operates in two modes. In automatic mode, each season activates itself within its configured date range. In manual mode, you can lock a specific season permanently, for example during a particular campaign.
Each season can be enabled or disabled independently, with its date window defined in DD/MM format. Moveable dates are calculated automatically each year: Easter using the Meeus algorithm and Carnival based on that date. You can also adjust animation intensity by controlling the number of particles displayed.
The overlay's z-index is configurable, allowing you to keep animations below fixed headers, cookie notices or pop-ups. You can disable animations on mobile devices (screens up to 768px) and exclude specific controllers such as checkout, where effects should not appear.
The module respects the prefers-reduced-motion preference for accessibility purposes and is hidden when printing. There is also an optional sound or jingle per season, disabled by default and played only after the user's first interaction, in compliance with browser autoplay policies.
Management is handled through a responsive panel organised into four tabs: General, Seasons & Dates, Compatibility and Credits. The back office is available in Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French, German and English.
