Catalogue migration and synchronisation between PrestaShop 1.7 / 8 / 9 stores — products, variants, packs, images, categories, brands and attributes. Full initial copy and automatic live sync via cron.
Migration & Live Sync is a PrestaShop module that copies the complete catalogue from one store to another and keeps it synchronised automatically, compatible with versions 1.7, 8 and 9. It was built for store migrations, staging environment setup and catalogue replication across stores of the same brand — eliminating the manual work and errors that come with file-based exports and imports.
The module is installed on both stores and operates through a direct, authenticated connection between them. One store is set to Source (Server) mode, which exposes the catalogue, and the other to Destination (Client) mode, which consumes and rebuilds it. All communication is secured by a private token and no data passes through third-party servers.
During synchronisation, the module transfers every element that makes up the catalogue:
Images are transferred at full quality, read directly from the source's disk so they are unaffected by themes or watermarks. Thumbnails are regenerated on the destination, ensuring compatibility across versions.
The import process was designed to be robust and idempotent. Products are matched by reference, which means that running the sync again updates existing products rather than duplicating them.
Whenever something requires attention — a missing tax, a duplicate reference or a missing image — it is logged without interrupting the process.
Once the initial migration is complete, Live mode takes over maintenance. Using hooks on the source store, every change is placed in a queue: products added, updated or deleted, stock and price changes, as well as changes to categories, brands, suppliers, features and attributes.
A scheduled process (cron) on the destination store periodically consumes that queue and applies the changes, keeping the destination up to date with no manual intervention. Deletions are replicated and the mechanism is safe against concurrent executions.
