The client
Hangar 18 is a Portuguese retailer specialising in military, outdoor and — above all — airsoft and milsim equipment for recreational use. Trading online since 2014, the brand now also operates a physical store in central Aveiro, near the Glicínias shopping centre, with an in-store collection option.
The challenge
Hangar 18's catalogue is extensive and technically demanding, spanning diverse categories such as airsoft replicas, 4.5 mm and 5.5 mm air rifles, tactical clothing and dozens of accessories. A catalogue of this nature requires a clear structure capable of organising products with their own specifications — power ratings, calibres, propulsion systems — while serving both domestic and international customers. There was also a need to refresh the online store to bring it in line with the current operation, which now includes a physical presence and in-store collection.
The solution
ID Digital revamped the Hangar 18 online store on PrestaShop, retaining the e-commerce platform best suited to the scale and complexity of the catalogue. The work focused on:
- A multilingual structure (Portuguese and English), enabling the same store to serve both Portuguese and international customers;
- Organising the catalogue into distinct categories — airsoft and milsim, air rifles, tactical clothing and accessories — making it easier to navigate an inventory with many dozens of products;
- A dedicated promotions and discounts section, giving prominence to current campaigns;
- Integration of an in-store collection option, reflecting the new reality of the operation with a physical location in Aveiro.
The relaunch was communicated to users via a notice displayed across all pages, announcing the new version of the store.
The result
Hangar 18 now has a refreshed online store aligned with its current operation, presenting a technical catalogue in an organised way across two languages. The multilingual structure and promotions section support both domestic and international sales, while the in-store collection option connects the digital channel to the physical location in Aveiro. The project supports a brand with a well-established reputation in the sector, with around 5,320 likes on its Facebook page and a 96% recommendation rate across 42 reviews.
