The challenge
AlugAssist rents air conditioning, heating, generators, lighting and commercial refrigeration for events, construction sites and industry. Their previous website worked as a static catalogue: customers had no way of knowing whether a piece of equipment was available on the dates they needed, or which one to choose for their space. Every enquiry ended up as a phone call or an email thread with multiple back-and-forth messages.
The solution
We built a bespoke rental platform from scratch, where customers can handle almost everything on their own and the team manages it all in one place.
- Date-based availability: customers enter their dates and location and see only the equipment that is free, based on stock levels and confirmed rentals.
- Instant price estimate: the most advantageous combination of daily, weekly and monthly rates is applied automatically, including installation and transport.
- Selection assistant: customers enter the type of space, the area and the available power supply and receive a recommendation with the right equipment and quantity. If there is no power on site, the proposal includes a generator.
- Backoffice: order management with editable values and customer notifications, a timeline-based availability calendar, messaging, catalogue, news and a project gallery.
Highlights
- Content: 27 pieces of equipment with detailed technical sheets and descriptions, and 20 articles covering climate control, energy and heating.
- SEO: per-page titles and descriptions, structured data, sitemap and canonical URLs.
- Legal compliance: cookie banner with per-category consent and Google Consent Mode v2, call cost displayed next to phone numbers, complaints book and alternative dispute resolution.
- Mobile: booking form right below the photos, a persistent "Rent" bar always visible, and a backoffice that works in the field.
- Security: tested against common attacks (brute force, XSS, malicious uploads, spam), with per-IP rate limiting and re-encoded uploads.
Technology
Built in PHP without frameworks, with an SQLite database, for a fast website with no external dependencies and straightforward hosting. It includes a backoffice-based update system with automatic backups and rollback, and a module system for adding features without touching the core.
